How to Boost Your PS4 Performance with an SSD Upgrade

  • Compatible SSD for PS4
  • USB drive (minimum 1GB)
  • Star screwdriver
  • Computer with internet access
  • Backup drive (optional)

Before beginning the upgrade, back up your PS4 data:

  1. Connect a USB drive to your PS4.
  2. Navigate to Settings > System > Back Up and Restore.
  3. Select ‘Back Up PS4’ and choose the data to save.

To replace the hard drive:

  1. Power off the PS4 and remove the power cord.
  2. Slide the HDD bay cover out and away.
  3. Remove the screw holding the HDD in place.
  4. Pull the HDD out and replace it with the SSD.
  5. Secure the SSD with the screw and replace the cover.
